Now you can apply and get your Passport In Rourkela too. It will be done in the head post office.
Passport services will be provided at the Head Post Offices (HPO) across the country, including at three places in Odisha.
The head post offices at Koraput, Sambalpur, and Rourkela will work as regional centers for providing documentation services to applicants.
Getting Passport services will be easier than ever in the state with notification by Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday saying that three head post offices notably Rourkela, Koraput, and Sambalpur would home regional centers for providing documentation for services to outgoing and incoming residents.
The Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Jual Oram will inaugurate Rourkela first Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) at Head Post Office in Rourkela(Odisha) on 25th February 2017 at 5:00 P.M, a which will cover Sundargarh District.This service was due for Rourkela for a long time.
The POPSK has been launched to expand the passport services over a wide area and simplify the process to travel abroad.
It has been named as POPSK because the ministry of external affairs (MEA) has tied up with the postal department to offer passport related services through a network of post offices. It is the pilot project of MEA.
Regional passport officers will train the postal department employees on process application. Except for printing and dispatch of passports, the Post Office Passport Seva Kendras will carry out all other operations like receiving an application, document verification and fee collection from applicants and facilitating the further process by sending it to the regional passport office in Bhubaneswar.
