Camtasia Studio is a video-based screen capturing software program. It is analogous to using a video camera to record your screen. However, unlike using a video camera, the software is installed on your computer, so your screen captures are directly recorded to a digital video format with higher quality audio.
It is one of my favorite screen capturing software which I use to make my video tutorials.

Once Camtasia has been downloaded, it needs to be installed. If you need to re-download, the latest versions can be found here. Older versions can be found here.
The steps are as follows;
- Locate the “camtasia.exe” file that was downloaded after purchasing Camtasia. In most cases, this is going to be in your Downloads folder, which will be in C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME \Downloads\*TIP: A quick way to get to your Downloads folder is to look for this button on your taskbar.After clicking it, expand the This PC section on the left, and there should be a Downloads folder here.
- In the Downloads folder, should be the Camtasia installation file, most likely “camtasia.exe.” Double click this file to begin the installation process.
- Continue through the install wizard to install Camtasia.NOTE: If you are seeing the screen below when you double click the install file, then Camtasia is already installed on your computer. Please close out of this window by clicking the X in the upper right-hand corner and proceed to step 4.
- Once step 3 is complete, then Camtasia is installed and ready to use.
